At The Summit, we acknowledge what the Bible teaches - that every person who has placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Forgiver is a member of the body of Christ - the church in a universal sense. However, the Bible also speaks of the church in a smaller context being made up of a locally gathered group of people who meet for worship, teaching, fellowship, and outreach. The Summit is a local expression of the body of Christ. And even though local church membership, as we have formally come to know it today, is not commanded by God in the Bible, we believe that there are several good reasons why membership matters and makes sense for those who call The Summit their home-church. (All this and much more info concerning membership will be covered in the membership class.)
“What’s in it for me?” – This is a common question people ask when coming to a local church and considering membership. They want to know what the church has to offer them. While The Summit is committed to helping you address the spiritual needs in your life, we do not exist for any one member or person. We exist only for the mission of the purpose we have been called to achieve by God. Fortunately, anyone can become a vital part of that mission. So The Summit is not American Express – where “membership has its privileges.” We don’t offer you perks and privileges, we offer you an opportunity – a chance of a lifetime to be actively involved in God’s agenda for the world. We invite you to become part of something eternal – a cause and purpose that will last forever. We offer you the experience of bringing authentic and lasting life-change to your family, friends, and community while God is achieving that same life-change in your life by His love, grace, and power. Don’t miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime!
We offer a 2 hour Membership class several times a year. To find out when and where the next Membership class is being held or to sign up for that class, click here.
