Family: Married to Brian on February 13, 1999. Four children: Micah (7), Matt (5), Mia (3), and Mae (2)

Personal History: Born in Kentucky, but spent most of my growing up in Georgia. Georgia is definitely “home”. I’ve also lived in Texas and Arkansas. I placed my trust in Christ as my Savior when I was seven. I grew up going to church and being involved in all of the activities that were offered. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I really started to develop the discipline of spending time alone in God’s Word. While in college, I met Brian. I knew very early on that I wanted to marry him. We married shortly after my college graduation. We began having children soon after we were married. They are each unique blessings that have changed me immensely! I feel very blessed to be here in North Carolina, sharing life with my family and the friends that we have made (and continue to make) here.

Educational & Ministry History: Bachelors in Business/Accounting: Kennesaw State University. I grew up with a father in ministry, so I have been around churches and church staffs for as long as I can remember. I began serving in student ministries while I was in college. Since the beginning of our marriage, Brian has served in various churches in the role of Student Pastor. I have always been very involved along side him in a volunteer capacity. In the last several years, my focus has shifted slightly from “students” to preschoolers. I have volunteered in various roles as it relates to these little ones.

Key People: My husband, Brian. Where would I be without him? It has been my pleasure to be married to a man, who is always learning and always growing. He has challenged me, encouraged me, and freed me up to be all that God created me to be. I look forward to the rest of our journey! My parents. They created an environment where I learned who God is and that He loves me. I am thankful that I have never doubted that reality. I hope to pass that kind of legacy on to my children. My in-laws, the Marstons. They accepted me from day one as one of their own. I am blessed to have another set of parents to learn from and enjoy life with. It is my aim to accept the spouses of each of my children the way I have been accepted by them. Each of my children – Micah, Matt, Mia and Mae. Micah never quits. He works hard and plays harder! Matt is so loving and funny. He is quick to forgive and will always give hugs! Mia is fiery and tenacious. She does not give up! Mae is nurturing. I love to watch as she “mothers” and loves. I hope that I continue to learn from each of them!

Fun Stuff: Eating out with Brian, watching UGA play football on Saturday with the whole family decked out in red and black, playing in the yard with the kids.

Favorites: Eating dinner as a family, Starbucks, Georgia Bulldogs, any song by Steve Fee, Dr. Pepper, sitting on the couch with Brian after the kids are in bed and laughing at things on T.V., and of course, American Idol! (I am one of those who love it all the way through.)

Makes me laugh: My kids dancing and telling knock-knock jokes (not at the same time, but that would make me laugh, too), “Legally Blonde”, The Cosby Show reruns, and people who take themselves too seriously.

The Inside Scoop: With me it is pretty much, “what you see is what you get”. I don’t have time to mess with phoniness. I love to just be with people in their various environments and get to know them (not just things about them). I desire with all my heart to make a difference in the lives of the other people. One more thing is that I home school our children. (Yes, I have 4 kids and I home school them. But I do wear make up and I don’t own a “jumper”.)

Books you should read: “Visioneering” by Andy Stanley; “Captivating” by John and Stasi Eldredge; “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis; “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller; and of course, The Bible (can’t leave that out)

Before I die: I want to go to Africa and meet our Compassion International child. I would love to travel to Australia, Hawaii, and China. And maybe drive something other than a minivan!
