Family: Married Ami in November of 1996. One son, J. Michael (5) and one daughter, Sadiella (1).

Personal History: I grew up in Springfield, OH, having lived in only three different houses within the same town until I was 23. That all changed in 1996 when I started dating and later married Ami (all within six months). Since then, we’ve lived in five different homes in three different states - not including the house we will eventually move into here in state #4. I experienced a wonderful childhood with my parents and three brothers, enjoyed my college years and can’t believe I get to do what I do now with my stunning wife and amazing kids.

Educational & Ministry History: I received a Bachelors in Psychology from Wright State University in 1994. Since then, I have worked in full-time ministry at one camp, two churches and with several other churches and organizations on a contractual basis. My goal is to further my formal education in the areas of theology, ministry and leadership.

Key People: Quite simply - Ami is the most incredible person I’ve ever met! Now you know why I had to marry her fast. I didn’t want her coming to her senses. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about some person from my present or past who has impacted me. I only wish I had been aware enough to thank each and every one of them along the way. Thankfully, I also have a family that I love and I like - from my parents to my brothers to their wives to my grandparents and aunts and cousins and so on.

Fun Stuff: I love being with Ami, J. Michael and Sadie. I don’t care where we are or what we’re doing. Everything is enjoyable when they’re around. I am also a basketball junkie (playing, coaching and watching) who’s looking for anyone who could hook me up with tickets to ANY Duke or NC game. I’ll take a game against Louisiana Lafayette Technical School of Computer Engineering - I don’t care. Otherwise, I keep things simple and try to enjoy everything I do.

Favorites: My list of favorites have multiplied since accepting Christ, marrying Ami and having kids. Hearing my kids laugh never gets old and making my wife smile always remains a priority. Moving beyond my family for a moment, I also love traveling, fishing and those moments when I can sit comfortably without feeling the guilt of needing to do anything else.

Makes me laugh: J. Michael, Monk and links I get sent by friends of random videos they find on the net (completely appropriate, of course).

The Inside Scoop: I often have way too much to say and want to share way too many stories. If I don’t see you or can’t spend a few moments talking with you, be thankful. Here at the Summit, I get to do what I’m most passionate about which energizes me - not drains me. Truth be told - all you have to do is spend a little time with Ami to see who has influenced my journey the most.

Books you should read: “Visioneering” by Andy Stanley. “EPIC” by John Eldridge. At least one Max Lucado book. At least one C.S. Lewis book.

Before I die: I want to help other churches reach the families in their communities. I want my kids to like me and want to spend time with me even as teenagers and adults. I want to write books, resources and curriculum. I want to be married to Ami for over 50 years.
